The Modern Fan Co. stands alone in bringing original design and innovation to the ceiling fan industry.
The designs celebrate the modern idiom through mechanical simplification, geometric forms and contemporary finishes.

Ron Rezek is the founder of The Modern Fan Co., a manufacturer of contemporary ceiling fans, in 1997. He designed the world’s first contemporary-styled ceiling fan in 1986. The Stratos fan continues to define 21st-century ceiling fan design. He was granted patents for the fan’s design and mechanics.

In 1997, Ron started The Modern Fan Co. in Ashland, Oregon. The company develops and sells only contemporary ceiling fans. In 2005, Ron introduced six new ceiling fan designs, bringing The Modern Fan Co.’s collection to a total of 18.

We love these contemporary ceiling fans and are committed to provide you with the highest customer service, so you will feel confident in your purchase.

Most frequently asked questions about choosing the right ceiling fan from the Modern Fan Co.:

What size fan should I order?
For maximum efficiency choose a fan to fit your room size.
A large living area or bedroom with a size up to 20' x 20'. can use a fan with 52" blades.
For a medium size room (up to 15' x 15')  42" blades will do the job.

Which fan should I choose for a low ceiling?
The Modern Fan Company has three fans that are designed with low ceilings in mind: the Cirrus Hugger, the Aurora Hugger and the Altus Hugger. While compact in scale, they are all exceptionally powerful air movers.
If you prefer one of the other great models from the Modern Fan Co, several of them can  be ordered with the shortest downrod and still have the fan blades at least seven feet above the floor. Please refer to the specs of each individual fan to look for these dimensions.

We have a very high ceiling. What size downrod should we choose?
In order to create the most airflow at the level where you need it we recommend you to use the longest downrod available from The Modern Fan Co. Their fans are designed to operate with a downrod of that length.

Can I install a Modern Fan on my covered patio?
All ceiling fans from the Modern Fan Company are rated for damp use, so you can indeed use them in a protected outdoor environment.

Does the Modern Fan Co. make fans for sloped ceilings?
All the fans except for the hugger versions, can be installed on sloped ceilings with the sloped ceiling kits designed specifically for each model of ceiling fan. These need to be ordered separately.

I am ordering a Modern Fan with a light kit. Will the light be enough to light the room?
Most of the light kits accomodate an incandescent 75W bulb. This is usually not enough to light an entire room sufficiently. You will ideally want to compliment it with other light sources in the room. Do, however keep in mind, never to position a fan close to recessed lights where the moving blades of the fan will cause the lights to flicker.

Which fan control should I choose?
The Modern Fan Company offers several choices in fan controls to fit your needs:

MF001: This is a basic three-speed control used to change speed on a fan without a light. It mounts on a wall switch box and includes a Decora-style wall plate. It is basic, straightforward and inexpensive.

MF002: This is the basic three-speed control (MF001) but with the ability to control a light (three levels of light intensity). This control requires two circuits from the wall box to the ceiling junction box (one circuit for the fan motor and one circuit fot the fan light).

MF004 (MF011 for Ball/Whirlybird): Choose this fan speed control if you do not have two circuits leading to your ceiling fan . It uses the two wires that come from the junction box to the wall box to control the fan motor and it uses a radio transmitter (similar to a garage opener) to control the light on the fan.

MF009: This fan speed control is the same model as the MF001, but  designed to control three-to-five fans simultaneously.

MF003 (MF010 for Ball/Whirlybird): This is a handheld remote control unit that allows you to control both the ceiling fan and the light. The remote control has a LCD screen which shows the current setting. With the five buttons you can select one of the three fans speeds, stop, or light intensity. A signal receiving unit is placed into the fan canopy. A wall hanger is included with the remote.

My fan wobbles. Is there anything I can do?
Fan wobble is an inherent problem with fans due to minute variation in the fan blade weight distribution. Modern Fan Company's fan blades are specified to be within one gram weight difference to avoid wobble. However, some wobble tends to be inevitable due to variance in installation location, airflow and other minutiae. Included in every fan is a small tool to help balance the fan and thereby reduce wobble: Attach the device to the end of each fan blade and turn the fan on. After trying this tool on each blade, identify the blade which, when the tool is attached, produces the least wobble. Then, move the tool from the outside of that blade towards the center in half-inch increments until you find the “sweet spot” (the location that produces the least wobble). In most cases, this will solve your problem. Modern Fan Company does not consider wobble to be a defect, and accordingly will not repair or replace installed fans due to wobble.
